Employment Policies

The orientation period is a 30-day span of time where you begin training. Managers get to know you, see how you fit in with your co-workers, and determine if you are willing and able to carry out the responsibilities for the position. It allows both you and us to see whether or not it’s a good fit and if not, we can part from one another as friends.
During the orientation period, you will begin your training and be observed by management. Also, during this time if you feel you do not understand what’s expected of you or that you need additional training, please ask questions and seek additional help. We’re here to help.
-
We do not expect you to be on your own until you are ready. And we know it takes both of us to get you ready.
For this reason, we have detailed training programs and materials to help you perform your job the T&T way. You will also be trained by experienced team members who are considered our “best” and have been certified to train.
“Best” means that these employees, or trainers, embody our Brand Heart and exemplify desired behaviors in the way they conduct themselves with guests and employees alike.
We ask that you continue to ask questions and show up ready to learn throughout training.
-
All employees receive written and verbal performance evaluations twice a year. The evaluation process is intended to let you know how well you’re performing and help you be more successful in your role. It’s an opportunity to identify accomplishments and strengths as well as openly discuss areas for improvement.
This is a collaborative process. You’re also given the opportunity to share your thoughts about your performance and future goals with your manager.
Depending on your position and performance, you may be eligible for a pay increase. Pay increases are not guaranteed. At T&T, rewards are based solely on your performance.

Schedules are posted weekly on Sunday.
Schedules are prepared to meet the work demands of the restaurant. As the work demands change, management adjusts scheduling accordingly.
Each employee is responsible for working their shifts. Schedule changes are allowed if you 1) find a replacement and 2) get a manager’s approval.
The change is considered approved when the manager indicates and initials the change on the posted schedule.
We understand that you have a life outside of the restaurant and will try to find a way to work with you on your schedule requests. However, we do ask you to remember how crucial each position is to the proper functioning of our restaurant.
-
You are paid overtime when you work more than 40 hours in one week.
If you’re an hourly employee, you are paid at one and one-half times your standard rate for all overtime hours worked.
Tip credit will be factored into the hourly rate if you’ve been tipped.

Absences, Tardiness & Resignation
-
If you are going to be late or miss work, you are expected to call and talk to your manager at least 2 hours before you are scheduled to work.
-
If you haven’t called in or reported to work for two consecutive shifts, we will consider you to have voluntarily resigned employment at Tacos & Tequila.
-
We ask you to be prepared to start work promptly at the beginning of the shift. Always arrive at the Restaurant 10 to 15 minutes before your shift. Your scheduled time is the time you are expected to be on your job, not arriving at the restaurant.
Repeated tardiness is grounds for termination.
-
You are requested to give a two-week notice of your plans to leave the restaurant. A notice is important so that we have time to hire someone to take your place.
Giving a two-week notice is a professional courtesy and assures that you are eligible for rehire and will not have a “left without resignation notice” on your employment record.
